About the event

Marilyne Paiement is a doula, psychosocial interventionist, and certified in feminist studies. With a background rooted in supporting women, particularly those experiencing violence, she develops a trauma-sensitive and intersectional practice.

She is interested in the tensions between motherhood, patriarchy, and social justice. Her work is informed by an ecofeminist vision rooted in an ethic of love, where empathy, collective responsibility, and dignity are at the heart of the intervention.

For several years, Marilyne has supported women through various life transitions, including perinatal care and domestic violence, while also collaborating on projects addressing systemic racism and the role of allies. She aims to equip perinatal professionals to intervene with nuance, sensitivity, and fairness in order to transform care practices.

Course descriptions:

This training day offers a clear and nuanced understanding of obstetric and gynecological violence from a feminist and intersectional perspective. We will explore its systemic, colonial, patriarchal, racial, and institutional roots, as well as its concrete impacts on care and support practices, with the aim of doing things differently. A sharing circle will be offered at the end of the day.

The intention:

This training program arose from the urgent need to protect women and those giving birth, to name the violence that still pervades our birthing and healthcare spaces, and to transform our approaches to support. It aims to provide insights and tools so that every professional and doula can intervene with respect, sensitivity, and awareness, while contributing to building fairer and safer environments. It is part of a social change initiative.
