A main doula and a backup doula, always
Our doulas are trained, specialized and insured. Each one brings her own strengths, and together they cover far more than one doula could alone: VBAC, twin pregnancies, LGBTQ+ families and surrogates, the Bonapace method, rebozo, breastfeeding, hypnobirthing and perinatal loss.
Choosing a team rather than a single doula means you'll never be left alone on the big day. Your main doula chooses a backup doula from our team and introduces her during a prenatal video meeting. From week 37, a group chat keeps the three of you connected. If your doula has an emergency, her backup is there. If labour lasts more than 24 hours, the backup takes over. The backup doula's on-call fee is included in all our packages.
What a birth doula does, alongside your medical team
Your partner will be there, and so will the hospital staff. So why a doula? Because she doesn't change shifts. She stays with you from start to finish, knows your story and your wishes, and supports the person who is with you too.
Before the birth

Continuous support: positions, breathing, massage, reassuring words, and help asking the right questions to your care team.
After the birth

Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural as soon as you arrive or a scheduled C-section, your doula supports your choices, without judgment. She gives you neutral information based on WHO and SOGC guidelines, and helps you speak up for what matters to you. Research on continuous labour support has also linked it to fewer C-sections and a more positive birth experience.

Birth support packages range from 1,375 to 1,980 Canadian dollars, and postpartum support starts at 165 dollars. Insurance receipts are available for naturopathy, depending on your coverage. Your discovery call and first meeting with your doula are free.

A word from the founder
Hi, I'm Kimberley. I started as a doula in 2013.
If I told you this work has transformed me as much as the families I've supported, I wouldn't be lying.
What I've learned, birth after birth, is that the person giving birth doesn't need to be told what to do, just a presence.
Someone you can tell anything to, without a filter, without fear of being judged. Someone who stays, with an open heart, no matter what happens.
Today, my role has changed. I've become, in a way, the doula to the doulas on my team. My job is to make sure every doula who supports you gives you exactly what I would have wanted to receive: real listening, a presence without judgment, and the humility to know that every birth, every family, is unique.
So even if I'm not the one by your side on the big day, know that my whole team carries this same intention. It's what I make sure to pass on, every day.

Your questions about birth support
What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A midwife is a health professional: she provides medical care during pregnancy and birth. A doula has no medical role. She offers continuous physical and emotional support before, during and after the birth. The two roles complement each other, and a doula can support you whether you're followed by a midwife, a family doctor or an obstetrician.
Can a doula support me at the hospital?
Yes. Your doula supports you at the hospital, at a birth centre or at home. She works alongside the care team, without making medical decisions, and helps you communicate your wishes clearly.
Is a doula right for me if I want an epidural or have a scheduled C-section?
Yes. A doula's role isn't to push you toward a certain kind of birth, but to support you in yours. With an epidural or a C-section, her presence, information and emotional support remain just as valuable, before, during and after.
How do I choose my birth doula in Montreal?
Start with the free discovery call: our coordinator takes the time to understand what you're looking for, your area and your due date. She then suggests a doula from our team, whom you meet for free and with no commitment. If you don't feel a connection, we'll introduce you to someone else.
What happens if my doula isn't available on the day of the birth?
A backup doula is included in all our packages. You meet her before the birth, she follows your file with your main doula, and she's there if your doula has an emergency or if labour lasts more than 24 hours.
How much does doula support cost at DoulasLove?
Birth support packages range from 1,375 to 1,980 Canadian dollars. You can also choose à la carte meetings. Insurance receipts are available for naturopathy, depending on your coverage: check with your insurer.
