accompagnement à la naissance - Doulaslove - Montréal, Laval, la Rive-Nord, la Rive-Sud, les Laurentides, la Mauricie et le West Island

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek δούλη (doúlê), meaning "slave, servant." Other terms are also used: birth companion and perinatal companion to designate specific training.

Doula: definition*: The role of the doula is to support the pregnant person and/or the couple from the moment the pregnancy is announced, during labor, and after the birth. She is neither a midwife nor a doctor, and the support she provides is non-medical. She is trained by various private organizations and associations in perinatal education, counseling, and relaxation.

The doula shares her experiences, information, and knowledge acquired through her training, as well as her knowledge of physiology, pregnancy, childbirth, newborns, listening, communication, pain management techniques, breastfeeding, and much more. She also provides support, tools, and relevant information to the parent(s). The legal role remains that of a "reassuring presence."

The doula supports the pregnant person and the couple in their choices and shares additional knowledge and information at the parents' request. She will in no way influence their decisions throughout their journey.

Back-up doula*: guaranteed peace of mind

To ensure consistent presence and quality service on the day of delivery, the addition of a backup is included in all our support contracts. Your primary doula will select a skilled backup from our team, who will be available for the on-call period. This backup will be presented during a prenatal videoconference meeting.

In the event of an unexpected absence of your primary doula, the backup will be present at your side. If the labor lasts longer than 24 hours, the backup will also take over, except during transition phases. Your doula and her backup are in constant communication, ensuring close monitoring of your progress. A messaging group is created from the 37th week, including the parents, the doula, and her backup to facilitate communication.

* The amount of the care ($100) for the relief is included in our packages.

Dual support **: dual expertise, dual support

Choosing a dual-support approach means benefiting from the alliance of two doulas working hand in hand to offer you unparalleled support. You'll have access to the experience and skills of two professionals, each bringing their own unique expertise.

For parents, it's the assurance of building a strong bond with two caring individuals and benefiting from additional resources throughout their journey. For doulas, this working method allows for optimal sharing of care, guaranteeing moments of rest and quality support over the long term.

Just like for the succession, the doulas in dyad are in permanent communication and a discussion group is set up as soon as the contract is signed for smooth follow-up.

** A supplement of $100 is required for dyad support.
